About My Clients

Some of the people who come to see me are facing serious challenges that are causing noticeable disruptions in their lives. Others are in the midst of a difficult transition. Still others are moving ahead with life, but with a sense of unhappiness, a lack of clear direction, a desire to get more out of life.

Different people are drawn to my practice for different reasons. University students appreciate the expertise I’ve gained working for over fifteen years at the University of Toronto’s counselling services. Artistic folks like the playful, creative ways I have of working with clients. People with a spiritual or mindfulness practice trust in my experience as a Zen student. People with social justice values appreciate how narrative therapy guides my understanding of the ways social and cultural forces, such as racism, heterosexism, and pressures to conform, can affect a person’s well-being. Fellow psychotherapists like the fact that I train others in my profession: when they want psychotherapy for themselves, they know I’ll be able to understand the challenges facing someone in a helping profession.
